Update – 3/18/13

Tim was discharged from HealthSouth Rehab in Erie last week and has returned home.  While many of us are incredibly thankful for his continued progress, we recognize that he still has quite a long road of recovery ahead of him.  Please keep the prayers going!

Tim Dyer grew up at St. Francis before entering the military.  After he returned, he got involved in the life of the church and began to sense a call to ordained ministry.  In the spring of 2012, he was granted postulancy for holy orders, meaning his sense of call to ordained ministry has been affirmed by his priest, his church community, and the diocese.

In November 2012, Tim was in a car accident on his way to work.  An oncoming car hit a deer, sending it airborne through his windshield.  He sustained a broken arm, torn ligaments in his wrist, and his jaw was broken in two places.  Shortly after being released from the hospital, he was readmitted for what was eventually discovered to be a medical condition called endocarditis – an infection of the inner lining of the heart.

After five weeks in the ICU, Tim was released to a specialized rehab facility in mid January.  While Tim continues to make significant strides toward recovery, he has a long road ahead and needs all the help and prayer his friends and communities are willing to give.

Ways You Can Help

1.  Volunteer

Below, you will find a list of fundraising efforts to help with the significant costs Tim and his wife, Noreen, are facing.  If you would like to volunteer your time and energy for any of these events, please contact Noreen’s daughter, Jana Hanks ( or 814-403-3148).

2.  Donate

For some, giving is more convenient than volunteering.  A special fund has been set up for Tim and Noreen, and contributions can be made by tax-deductible donation through St. Francis Church.  Simply send a check to the church made out to “St. Francis Church Alms Fund” with “Tim Dyer Medical” in the memo line.
